
Five suspects have been arrested by the Niger State Police Command for allegedly stealing 17 goats in Mokwa Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed this in a statement in Minna said, the suspects were intercepted on July 7 by a patrol team attached to Mokwa Division during routine patrol along the Mokwa bypass.
According to him, the suspects were caught while loading the goats into a Toyota Corolla with registration number KNT 23 HP.
“The suspects could not give a satisfactory account of themselves and the goats.
They were immediately arrested and taken into custody,” Abiodun said.
Police investigations later revealed that the goats had been stolen from different owners within Mokwa town and were being transported to Bida for sale.
The suspects were identified as Ramatu Yahaya, 24, of Bida; Amina Usman, 30, of Mokwa; Isyaku Yahaya, 15, of Bida; Danjuma Danladi, 31, of Bida; and Mohammad Adamu, 30, of Bida.
Abiodun said some of the owners later identified and reclaimed their goats, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate.
He added that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
