Troops of Operation Savannah Shield have arrested 10 suspected terrorists’ informants and collaborators during a fighting patrol in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
This was made known in a post on X by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security expert in the Lake Chad region.
Makama stated that the operation was conducted at about 10:05 a.m. on June 11 by troops of the Combined Intervention Strike Brigade XVI operating from Forward Operating Base, FOB, Audu Fari.
He noted that the troops carried out a fighting patrol across several communities, including Tungan Yaboye, Kumble, Sabon Gari, Dogon Ruwa, Lambu, Tungan Isah, Rafi Maigudu, Swashi, Guffanti, Kwanan Demu Junction, Papiri and Gallah.
According to him, the patrol, aimed at flushing out suspected terrorist elements and dismantling their support networks, led to the clearance of suspected hideouts across the affected areas.
The security expert added that no direct contact was made with armed terrorist groups during the operation, disclosing that 10 suspected informants and collaborators were apprehended in the course of the patrol.
“The suspects are currently in custody for further interrogation and subsequent action.
“Military authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to sustained clearance operations and intelligence-driven patrols to deny terrorists freedom of movement and logistical support in Niger State and adjoining areas,” he said.
