priorities across the federation.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) by the World Bank in Washington, D.C.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the report, aggregate state revenue increased by approximately 93 per cent in real terms during the period, while expenditure rose by 92 per cent.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The World Bank attributed the revenue growth partly to exchange-rate reforms, the removal of petrol subsidies, improved revenue administration and increased allocations from the Federation Account.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It said the states also benefited from refunds, the settlement of longstanding federal obligations, intervention funds and stronger Value Added Tax collections.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the increase in available resources, the share of state expenditure allocated to education fell from 14.9 per cent in 2021 to 12.1 per cent in 2025.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Health expenditure remained broadly stable at about seven per cent, while social protection spending increased from 1.4 per cent to 4.4 per cent over the period.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report also highlighted a significant increase in capital expenditure, which accounted for 61 per cent of total state spending, compared with 46 per cent previously.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Transport infrastructure recorded the largest increase in capital spending, alongside substantial investments in housing, agriculture and other economic activities.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The World Bank Country Director for Nigeria, Mathew Verghis, said the increase in public revenue presented an opportunity for governments to improve infrastructure and strengthen the delivery of essential services.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He, however, stressed the need for greater spending efficiency, accountability and improved service delivery to ensure that additional public resources translated into tangible benefits for Nigerians.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bank acknowledged improvements in fiscal reporting, transparency and internally generated revenue among states.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It nevertheless emphasised that increased investment in human capital was essential to translating economic reforms into sustainable employment opportunities and improved living standards.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report projected average economic growth of 4.4 per cent between 2026 and 2028, subject to the continuation of reforms and improvements in service delivery.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It urged federal and state governments to ensure that increased And while the experience inspired me in many ways, it also broke my heart into a million little pieces,” he wrote on Instagram.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The entertainer said he turned to God after the election to seek direction and surrender his ambitions.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“When the dust settled, I took those pieces back to God. And I surrendered,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to him, the experience made him question whether he should focus on leadership, entertainment, business or ministry.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, he said he eventually realised that he did not have to choose one path at the expense of the others.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“And somewhere along the way, I realised that I was asking God to choose between things He had never asked me to separate,” Banky W said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“It wasn’t either\u002For. It was all of the above.”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that his transition into pastoral ministry had changed his understanding of purpose, saying he now saw his responsibilities as expanding rather than narrowing.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“Turns out, God wasn’t trying to put me in a box. He was expanding my assignment,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Banky W explained that he now combines his responsibilities as a pastor and professor with his work as a filmmaker, musician and entrepreneur.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also recalled joking about his possible future in ministry, saying he had previously insisted that the letter “P” in his name, P. Banks, stood for professor rather than pastor.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“I used to joke that the ‘P’ in P. Banks stood for Professor, not Pastor. I guess God heard and said, ‘Why not both?’” he wrote.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The singer also spoke about the challenges of travelling regularly between Lagos and the Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia area to manage his various responsibilities.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“Constantly travelling back and forth between Lagos and the DMV isn’t always easy. But has it been worth it? Absolutely,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reflecting on the past year, Banky W said the experience had taught him that setbacks could lead to unexpected opportunities.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“One year later, I’m reminded that sometimes what feels like the end of your story is really just God turning the page,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“The election didn’t go the way I hoped. But God’s plans for my life are bigger than the plans I had for myself.”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Banky W contested the 2023 House of Representatives election to represent Eti-Osa Federal Constituency in Lagos State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
