‘Nigeria’s economy now on stronger footing’ — Information Minister defends Tinubu’s reforms

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has defended President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, saying Nigeria’s economy is now on a stronger footing three years into the administration.

Idris made the claim on Thursday in Abuja during a press conference on the state of the economy and the government’s next phase of economic policies.

He said reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy, were necessary to address longstanding economic challenges and strengthen the country’s finances.

“Three years into the Renewed Hope Agenda, results are increasingly evident. The economy is on stronger footing, stability is creating greater room for investment and enterprise,” Idris said.

The Minister said the government was now moving from the reform phase into what it described as a period of growth, investment, job creation and improved living standards.

He said Tinubu had described the next phase of the administration’s economic programme as “From Reform to Prosperity.”

According to Idris, the focus would now be on creating jobs, expanding opportunities, strengthening businesses and improving the incomes and living conditions of Nigerians.
