'Nigeria's economy responding well to Tinubu's reform' - Presidency

Daily Post about 1 hour 2 mins read

The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Bola Tinubu, Temitope Ajayi, on Monday said Nigeria's economy is responding well to the president's reforms.

Ajayi said while the economy is responding well to Tinubu's reforms, the opposition is busy selling doom and gloom.

He was reacting to a report insisting that the manufacturing sector has picked up with jobs expanding under Tinubu's administration.

Posting on X, Ajayi said: "While the opposition elements are content with selling doom and gloom with the hope their narratives will resonate and help them win next elections, the economy under President Tinubu is responding very well to the reforms. And the evidence is crystal clear.

"The manufacturing sector is expanding and adding jobs. In 2025, the sector added 81,174 jobs more than double the 34,769 jobs created in 2024, marking a 133.47 percent year-on-year increase.

"The surge in employment was driven by a recovery in factory activity in the first half, supported by a more stable exchange rate for imported inputs, improved business confidence, and a rise in manufactured exports, according to data presented by Segun Ajayi-Kadir, director-general of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, at the association’s 54th Annual General Meeting in Lagos, according to Business Day newspaper."
