Nile University of Nigeria has inducted 75 new medical doctors into the medical profession at its 5th MBBS Attestation Ceremony in Abuja, bringing the total number of doctors produced by the University since the inception of its MBBS programme to 257.
The graduates, members of the University’s Class of 2025/2026, took the Physician’s Oath on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, following years of academic study and clinical training at the University’s College of Health Sciences. The ceremony marked a significant milestone for the graduates as they prepare to apply their training in professional practice.
Four graduates stood out for their academic performance, recording multiple Pass with Distinction results across key medical disciplines. Abubakar Dahiru Bobo achieved seven distinctions, Shuaib Sanni Farida recorded five, while Sadi Abdu Fatima and Hafsa Awwal Abubakar each earned four.
Delivering the attestation lecture, the Medical Elder, Professor Ahmed Ahidjo, former Chief Medical Director of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, drew on his professional experience to emphasise the importance of discipline, mentorship and continuous learning in medicine. He also discussed advances in interventional radiology and the role of innovation in medical practice, highlighting the need for doctors to keep abreast of developments in their field.

The Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), Professor Fatima Kyari, administered the Physician’s Oath and commended the University’s contribution to medical education. She urged the graduates to look beyond individual achievement and consider how they could mentor others and contribute to national development through their profession.
“Start to think about today. How you will make others grow, in this profession and in the country at large,” she said.
The Vice-Chancellor of Nile University of Nigeria, Prof. Dilli Dogo, FNAMed, DFMC, reminded the graduates that completing their training was the beginning of a career that would demand dedication, accountability and service.
“The journey starts now. It’s a journey of service, dedication, commitment and delivery,” he said.
He urged them to honour the commitments they had made in taking the Physician’s Oath, stressing the responsibility that comes with the trust placed in medical professionals.
“You are called to a profession that does not tolerate excuses. I urge you to stand by the oath you’ve taken,” he added.
The Vice-Chancellor also highlighted the University’s international academic links, noting that it has partnerships with 126 universities worldwide. As the graduates prepare to begin the next stage of their careers, they also received medical starter tools to support their transition into professional practice.
The induction of this fifth cohort reflects Nile University of Nigeria’s continuing contribution to medical education and the development of healthcare professionals in Nigeria.
