NLO announces fresh date for new season

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

The Nationwide League One, NLO, has announced a one-week adjustment to the commencement date of the 2026 Cup competition, DAILY POST reports.

The tournament, initially scheduled to commence on Saturday, October 10, will now kick off on Saturday, October 17, 2026.

The NLO secretariat said the adjustment became necessary to allow additional logistical preparations, ongoing maintenance works at some designated venues, and the completion of registration and other administrative requirements by participating clubs.

It added that the extension was made in the overall interest of the competition and to ensure that all necessary arrangements are concluded ahead of the tournament.

The NLO confirmed that the official match fixtures will be released on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, to give clubs sufficient time to prepare, while acknowledging the change may affect logistical arrangements and travel plans.

The organisers appealed to all participating clubs to remain cooperative and continue preparations, noting the 2026 NLO Cup is expected to provide competitive opportunities for clubs and emerging talents and contribute to grassroots football development across the country.
