NLO sanctions Campos FC Chairman over intimidation of match officials

Daily Post about 4 hours 1 mins read

The Nationwide League One, NLO, has sanctioned Campos FC chairman, Patrick Osuji, after he allegedly intimidated match officials and assaulted the Imo State Football Association secretary before a league match against OISA FC.

According to the NLO, Osuji ordered his players not to take part in the scheduled game because he wanted the match officials changed without reason. The encounter was later called off.

The league said the conduct violated the principles of sportsmanship and fair play expected at the grassroots level.

As punishment, the NLO awarded the match to OISA FC with three points and three goals in accordance with the rule book. Campos FC was also fined N500,000, to be paid before their next league game.

Campos FC officials, Osuji and Nnadozie, have also been suspended indefinitely from all NLO activities pending a final decision by the disciplinary committee.

The NLO said the sanctions take effect immediately from the date of communication.
