No evidence I won 2023 election – Peter Obi

Daily Post about 1 hour 1 mins read

The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, says there is no evidence to prove his claim that he won the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party.

Speaking in an interview with BBC Africa, Obi maintained that he believes he won the contest.

When pressed for evidence to justify his claim, the former Anambra governor said, “There’s no evidence. Everything is not based on evidence.”

DAILY POST reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, winner of the polls, while Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, came second and Obi finished third.

Recall that Obi and Atiku challenged the outcome at the Presidential Election Petition Court, but the petitions were dismissed.

The Supreme Court subsequently upheld Tinubu’s victory.

During the BBC interview, Obi also addressed his position on fuel subsidy, saying his stance had not changed despite criticism that his comments on the issue had shifted.
