North can end insecurity in 45 days if committed - KACRAN

Daily Post about 3 hours 2 mins read

The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria, KACRAN, has said the North has the capacity to end insecurity in the North-West and North-Central regions within 45 days if there is genuine commitment.

In a press statement issued on Sunday and signed by its National President, Hon. Khalil Mohd Bello, the association said the region was once celebrated worldwide for its unity, brotherhood and peace but had now been engulfed by killings, displacement and cattle rustling.

“With the support and cooperation of the Federal Government and the concerned state governments, the North has the full capacity and ability to end insecurity in the North-West and North-Central within 45 days, if truly committed,” KACRAN said.

According to the association, its proposal involves “two weeks for contact and engagement with all relevant groups, and one month for taking strong measures to implement KACRAN’s peace proposal.”

The group based its position on four factors, noting that the North has the human capacity, population strength, respected leadership and agricultural resources to address the security challenges.

“The North-West and North-Central have produced more than half of the presidents who have ruled Nigeria, many of whom are alive today. The region has also produced many generals, senior military and paramilitary officers, experienced civil servants and great politicians who have shaped Nigeria’s governance,” it said.

KACRAN further cited the success of dialogue in resolving the Birnin Gwari conflict in Kaduna State, arguing that even the most complicated security challenges could be addressed through dialogue.

The association commended Kaduna State Governor, Malam Uba Sani, for his peace efforts and called on other governors in the region to emulate him.

It also warned against the creation of tribal vigilante groups, arguing that such groups would hardly guarantee lasting peace and could lead to the emergence of opposing groups.

KACRAN urged the Federal Government and the governments of the North-West and North-Central states to accept its comprehensive peace proposal before the 2027 elections.

The association stressed that decisive action should be taken against any bandit who refuses to accept the proposed peace deal.
