NPFL: Rangers overcome Plateau United to win pre-season invitational tournament

Rangers recorded a 1-0 victory over Plateau United in the final of the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, pre-season invitational tournament at the New Jos Stadium on Sunday.

Justice Akugre scored the winning goal with a header in the 28th minute.

Akugre rose unchallenged inside the box to power home a header after a dangerous corner was delivered into the area.

Rangers maintained their lead for the remainder of the game despite efforts by Plateau United to get back into the game.

Mighty Jets secured third position after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Katsina United.

Tochukwu Ibedu netted the winning goal eight minutes before the break.
