The National People’s Party (NPP) Seattle Chapter has raised US$65,230 at its first fundraising event in the United States for the party’s 2026 presidential campaign.
Held under the theme, “Uniting Our Diaspora, Strengthening Our Party, Building a Better Future for The Gambia,” the event brought together NPP supporters and members of the Gambian diaspora in Seattle.
NPP Diaspora Chapter Financial Secretary Lamin Saidy said every contribution to the party carries a responsibility to ensure transparency and accountability. He said the NPP needs resources to support membership activities, communication, administration, campaign operations, outreach, policy development, training and mobilisation.
Saidy said the party is working to strengthen expenditure controls, financial oversight and documentation to ensure members’ contributions are properly managed. He said contributors are owed accountability and transparency, adding that the party’s financial affairs should be managed with discipline and integrity.
NPP National President Musa Drammeh thanked Gambians in the United States for their financial support and other contributions to the party. He said the diaspora also brings professional expertise, knowledge, ideas, networks and resources that can contribute to national development.
Drammeh said the government had made investments in infrastructure, roads, education, health, agriculture, energy and digital transformation. He said the US$65,230 raised represented the sacrifices and confidence of supporters and pledged continued efforts to strengthen financial discipline, compliance and accountability.
The NPP Diaspora Secretary, Maimuna Ceesay described the Seattle gathering as a milestone for the party, saying it marked its first congress event in the United States. She said Gambians abroad remain connected to their families and communities at home and have a role to play in the country’s development.
She urged the diaspora to contribute not only through financial support but also through professional skills, entrepreneurship, investment, knowledge and international experience. She also called for stronger communication between Gambians abroad and political structures at home, while urging supporters to promote unity, tolerance and peaceful political dialogue ahead of the 2026 election.
