The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested four suspected illicit drug dealers in Kano.
The suspects were arrested during a covert operation carried out by operatives of the corps’ Counter Terrorism Unit based in Dorayi Babba, Gwale Local Government Area.
The suspects were identified as Abubakar Abdullahi, 35; Rabiu Baffa, 25; Aminu Lawan, 35; and Ibrahim Idris, 33. They are all residents of Gaida in Kumbotso Local Government Area.
The NSCDC said the arrests followed credible intelligence and a covert operation at Gaida.
Items recovered from the suspects included four sachets of Pregabalin 300mg capsules, popularly known as “PG”; dozens of Diazepam tablets, locally called “Fara”; three tubes of Oshin Solution, also known as “Sholisho”; and three big packs and 20 parcels of suspected marijuana.
The NSCDC Kano State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, said the corps had completed its preliminary investigation and would hand over the four suspects and the recovered items to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Kano for further investigation and legal action.
He also said the NSCDC would continue working with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to tackle drug-related offences and activities that could threaten peace and security in Kano State.
The Commandant urged residents to continue giving security agencies credible information about suspected drug-related activities, assuring them that such information would be treated confidentially.
