The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has sanctioned 66 personnel across various ranks for offences ranging from misconduct to other disciplinary infractions, reaffirming its commitment to discipline, professionalism and accountability in the discharge of its statutory responsibilities.
Babawale Afolabi, the National Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, in a statement, said the Commandant General, Prof. Abubakar Ahmed Audi, disclosed this during a press conference in Abuja.
Prof. Audi stated that the disciplinary actions, which include dismissal, reduction in rank, suspension and warning, followed the receipt of official correspondence from the Civil Defence, Corrections, Fire and Immigration Services Board, CDCFIB, after its meeting.
He explained that the affected personnel had undergone established disciplinary procedures, including proceedings before the Orderly Room and the Senior and Junior Officers’ Disciplinary Committees, where the nature and gravity of their respective offences were examined and appropriate sanctions recommended.
The NSCDC boss noted that the recommended disciplinary measures were subsequently ratified by the Board, underscoring the Corps’ resolve to maintain high standards of discipline and professional conduct among its personnel.
In a related development, Prof. Audi confirmed that the Corps had received the list of approximately 17,000 senior officers approved for promotion, as earlier announced by the Ministry of Interior and the CDCFIB.
He assured that the promotion list would be made public and communicated to the benefiting officers in due course.
The Commandant General reiterated the Corps’ commitment to institutional discipline, professional excellence and improved service delivery in line with its mandate of safeguarding lives, property and critical national assets.
