The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has announced plans to hold a South-East Security Summit on November 10, 2026, to address insecurity, violence and criminal activities threatening the region.
The National Vice-President of the NYCN, South-East, Dr Henry Atigwe, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Enugu.
Atigwe said the summit was aimed at promoting a safer South-East through collective efforts to tackle violence, social vices and other forms of criminality affecting communities across the region.
He urged youths to speak out against wrongdoing and report suspicious activities in their communities, stressing that collective vigilance and timely action were essential to preventing crime.
According to him, the summit would also strengthen collaboration between young people and security agencies to improve security across the five South-East states.
Atigwe said more than 5,700 youth delegates from the 95 local government areas in the region were expected to converge on Enugu for the summit.
