African Democratic Congress, ADC, chieftain and supporter of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Naja’atu Muhammad, has accused Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of allegedly working to undermine Atiku, describing them as “moles”.
Naja’atu made the allegations during an interview with DCL on Sunday, insisting that the Atiku camp would never support either Obi or Kwankwaso as the party's presidential candidate.
“We will never support Peter Obi because he is a mole. Peter Obi is a mole. Kwankwaso is a mole,” she said.
She questioned Kwankwaso's political loyalty, citing his reported comment that President Bola Tinubu was a better leader than Atiku.
According to her, the statement contradicted the position of someone genuinely interested in defeating Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
“If you truly want your oga, Mr Obi, to take over from Tinubu, you should be saying that Obi is better than Tinubu. But to come out and say that Tinubu is a better leader than Waziri makes it plain that you are just a mole,” she said.
Naja’atu also recalled Kwankwaso's performance in the 2023 presidential election, alleging that his supporters in Kano were instructed to spoil their votes rather than support Atiku, who contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
She further alleged that Kwankwaso joined the ADC to distract and weaken the party before leaving less than a month after his entry.
The ADC chieftain also questioned Obi's readiness to emerge as the party's presidential candidate, alleging that the former Anambra State governor had never tested his popularity through a primary election.
“Obi is such a coward. He has never gone through a primary election. He cannot be the presidential candidate of the ADC,” she added.
On the possibility of Atiku being excluded from the presidential race, Naja’atu said the issue should be viewed as a threat to democracy rather than a matter of individual political ambition.
“Democracy is not about Tinubu or Atiku. It's an institution. It's about giving the people of this country the right to choose,” she said.
She warned that preventing Atiku from appearing on the ballot could trigger widespread resistance.
“If they do that, they are calling for a revolution. Write it down,” she declared.
She argued that Nigerians had been pushed to the brink by economic hardship, citing the removal of fuel subsidy, rising costs of living and what she described as a breakdown of law and order.
