Obi, Kwankwaso to decide when campaign council will be inaugurated – NDC

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) says it is conducting due diligence before inaugurating its Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) and releasing its manifesto ahead of the 2027 general election.

The party said the process was aimed at ensuring that its campaign team reflected competence, unity and credibility.

The NDC’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, disclosed this in response to enquiries from THISDAY about the timelines for inaugurating the campaign council and unveiling the party’s policy document.

“The NDC Presidential Campaign Council is being deliberate and thorough as part of the strategy adopted by our presidential candidate and vice-presidential candidate,” Director said.

He explained that the party was carefully assessing prospective members to ensure they could contribute meaningfully to the campaign.

“We are conducting due diligence to ensure that every appointment and every engagement reflects competence, unity, and the interests of the party and the nation,” he stated.

Director added that the party wanted to establish a disciplined and results-oriented campaign structure rather than rush the process.

“This careful process is about presenting a winning team, one built on credibility, discipline, and results,” he said.

The party said the date for inaugurating the Presidential Campaign Council would be determined by its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

“The party has carefully relinquished the announcement of the date of PCC inauguration to our presidential candidate and his running mate,” Director said.

However, the NDC did not announce a specific date for the inauguration or indicate when its manifesto would be released.

The campaign council is expected to coordinate the party’s nationwide campaign, manage engagements with stakeholders and communicate its message to voters.

The manifesto is also expected to outline the party’s proposed policies on major national issues, including the economy, security and governance.

With the 2027 general election approaching, the timing of the two announcements will determine when the party formally presents its campaign leadership and policy agenda to Nigerians.
