Primate Babatunde Ayodele has warned President Bola Tinubu against holding the October 1 Independence Day parade, saying there could be danger if the event goes ahead.
Ayodele issued the warning in a video shared on X ahead of Nigeria’s Independence Day celebration.
“October 1st, President Tinubu should cancel the parade. If he attempts to go ahead with it, there is danger in it,” he said.
The cleric also warned Nigerians against accepting anything from politicians in exchange for their support ahead of the 2027 election.
He urged voters to make their choices based on their conscience and the candidates they believe will serve the interests of Nigerians.
“And to Nigerians, don’t collect anything from any politician because of the election. Vote your conscience. Vote for the right people. Vote for people who will truly serve the interest of the people,” Ayodele said.
He also urged Nigerians to remain prayerful and vigilant.
