The Kogi Diaspora Association (KDA), United Kingdom, has commended Governor Ahmed Ododo for completing projects initiated by his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, describing the move as a demonstration of maturity and commitment to sustainable development.
In a statement signed by its Secretary-General, Sir Andrew Okwor, the group said Ododo had made significant contributions across key sectors, including health, education, agriculture, infrastructure and human capital development.
The association also commended the governor for taking development to the grassroots, particularly through interventions in rural communities.
According to the group, rather than abandoning projects initiated by the immediate past administration, Ododo had consolidated and expanded them, demonstrating an understanding that sustainable development required continuity.
The statement said, “Rather than abandoning the foundations laid by the immediate past administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello, he has consolidated, expanded and, in several areas, significantly deepened them, demonstrating a commendable understanding that sustainable development is built progressively rather than repeatedly started afresh.”
The KDA noted that the Ododo administration had embarked on the revitalisation of more than 150 primary healthcare centres across the 21 local government areas, including the rehabilitation of 88 PHCs at a cost of more than N7 billion, while over 70 other centres were undergoing renovation.
The group also praised the governor for sustaining investments in education and human capital development initiated under the Bello administration.
It specifically cited the completion and commissioning of the GYB Model Science Secondary Schools, alongside continued investments in tertiary institutions and other educational infrastructure.
The association said the continuity of such projects was important because “the true test of leadership is not necessarily who conceived a project, but who possesses the discipline and commitment to complete it, equip it and ensure that its benefits reach the people.”
The KDA further acknowledged what it described as the administration’s growing attention to agriculture, rural development, infrastructure and economic expansion.
It said Kogi’s strategic location and agricultural and mineral resources offered significant economic opportunities, adding that the state government had taken steps to translate those resources into productive ventures.
The group noted that the administration had invested in agricultural mechanisation and inputs, supported farmers and introduced interventions aimed at improving rural productivity.
The KDA called on residents of the state to support the governor’s administration to enable it achieve greater impact.
