Ogun: FRSC deploys 32 patrol vehicles, ambulances, tow trucks ahead of Sallah celebration

In a bid to reduce road traffic crashes, RTCs, and ensure the free flow of traffic during the Sallah festive period, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector Command, has intensified operational activities across the state.

DAILY POST reports that the command deployed 32 patrol vehicles, six motorcycles, three ambulances, and two tow trucks to major corridors within the state.

The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, in a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, Odunsi Afolabi, on Monday, said the deployment was aimed at enhancing visibility patrol, prompt rescue response, traffic control, and effective enforcement of traffic regulations throughout the festive period.

Ogunjobi admonished members of the public to take responsibility for their safety by avoiding reckless driving, dangerous overtaking, overloading, speeding, use of mobile phones while driving, drunk driving, and other traffic violations capable of causing crashes on the highways.

According to him, speeding beyond the approved speed limit remains one of the major causes of road crashes, warning that any driver found violating traffic regulations would be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.

“As we celebrate Sallah, I urge all motorists to make safety their top priority. Avoid speeding, dangerous driving, and drunk driving. Obey traffic rules and cooperate with traffic officers deployed across the highways.

“Let us all remember that no journey is worth the loss of a life. Drive with care and arrive alive,” he said.

The Sector Commander also harped on the need for patience and discipline among motorists and other road users, reiterating that road safety is a shared responsibility.

He called on all stakeholders, transport unions, fleet operators, and passengers to support the Corps in achieving a crash-free festive season.
