A 40-year-old motorcycle rider, Monday Dauda, popularly known as an ‘Okada rider’, has been killed, and his body dumped at Kasuwa Monday in Kaduna South Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Dauda’s body was discovered in the early hours of Wednesday, October 14, 2026, by family members who had gone searching for him after he failed to return home. They had searched hospitals and police stations in Kaduna metropolis and its environs.

Speaking to DAILY POST, his first son, Samson Monday, said, “My father is an Okada rider. He has been riding commercial motorcycle since the closure of the textile company where he previously worked.

“He goes out early in the morning at 7 am and closes at 6 pm everyday. But yesterday, we waited, expecting him to come home by 6 pm, 7 pm, 8 pm, we didn’t see him. We called his number, and it was switched off. We began panicking, noticing that something had happened.”

He said the family initially suspected that Dauda might have been arrested by law enforcement agencies and decided to check at police stations and Federal Road Safety Corps offices but could not find him.

He added that they searched hospitals around the community but still could not find him. They then extended the search across the area, only to discover his body that morning.

According to him, “We only found his lifeless body with bruises all over it.”

Also speaking to DAILY POST, the deceased’s wife, Mrs Jenifer Monday, who has three children, expressed grief over her husband’s killing.

She said, “We have planned to relocate to our home town by December this year because of suffering, coupled with the harsh economy we face, as my husband has no tangible job. Now, he was murdered and even his motorcycle was stolen. How will I cope with the children?”

Mrs Monday, who is nursing a three-month-old baby girl, broke down in tears when DAILY POST visited the family on Wednesday.

She said, “I do not envisage this ugly situation. Where will I start at this young age?”

Efforts to reach the Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer for comments were unsuccessful, as his phone was switched off.
