The Ondo State Government has deployed medical personnel and ambulances to the site of a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft crash in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) report that the aircraft marked NAF-931 with 25 people on board on Monday plunged into a swampy area near the Naval Base in Igbokoda.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Banji Ajaka, in a statement on Tuesday in Akure, said the ambulances were deployed from hospitals in Ilaje and Okitipupa Local Government areas on the directive of Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Ajaka said medical teams had been placed on alert while military personnel and other emergency responders continued recovery operations at the crash site.

He said specialised equipment, including swamp buggies, had also been deployed to support the operation, urging the public to avoid spreading unverified information about the incident.

“This is a national disaster that we shouldn’t play politics with,” Ajaka said, urging the public to wait for verified information. (NAN)
