Says Aiyedatiwa remains his benefactor

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Senatorial Candidate for Ondo South Senatorial District, Dr. Isaacs Kekemeke, has dismissed reports of a rift between himself and governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, describing the claims as the handiwork of political opponents.
Kekemeke, a former APC National Vice Chairman, South-West, who addressed journalists in Akure said his relationship with the governor remains cordial and that there was no basis for the speculation making the rounds in political circles.
Rumours had suggested that the governor withdrew his support for Kekemeke and attended a meeting in Okitipupa where some APC members allegedly endorsed a candidate of another party.
But Kekemeke debunked the claims, stating that the governor was instrumental to his emergence as the party’s candidate.
“Nothing has happened between me and the governor to change gear. There is no friction,” he said.
“The governor supported me in the primaries. In fact, he was my promoter, and he did everything he could to ensure that I emerged victorious.”
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the governor, describing him as his benefactor and the leader of the party in the state.
“The truth is the governor remains my benefactor and the leader of our party in the state, as it is with all serving governors,” Kekemeke stated.
The senatorial candidate described attempts to create division within the party as “mischievous and illogical.”
He accused those spreading the rumour of acting on “false, inadequate, and insufficient information,” adding that some of them were only compelled to support him.
“Some people are saying I should not have survived the political onslaught in the state.
” They forget that at that time I was a candidate and was deemed to have left the National Working Committee.
“They also forget that the party has a national leader who is the President, and whatever he wishes prevails,” he said.
Kekemeke likened the speculation to blaming a survivor of an accident for the death of others.
“It is mischievous to say that because you survived, you should have ensured everyone else survived,” he added.
He further stated that the meeting in Okitipupa did not represent the position of the party, noting that those who convened it could not even announce the party they were endorsing.
On whether the governor could endorse another candidate, Kekemeke said: “The governor is not there and couldn’t be there.
” How will the leader of a party go and support another party when APC has a candidate? The governor wouldn’t do that.”
He assured that the APC remains strong in Ondo South and that members would not engage in anti-party activities.
