One person has been killed and a motorcycle set ablaze following a communal clash between herders and residents of Karmo community in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that troops of Sector 2, Operation Whirl Stroke, OPWS, stationed at Gadabuke, responded to the incident at about 11:50 a.m. on November 5, 2026.

The violence reportedly erupted over a land dispute involving neighbouring communities, leaving one civilian dead and a motorcycle burnt.

The sources said the suspected perpetrators had fled the scene before the arrival of the troops.

“The perpetrators reportedly fled before the arrival of the troops,” the sources said.

The troops subsequently engaged members of the feuding communities in an effort to de-escalate tensions and prevent further violence.

According to the sources, troops have continued to maintain a strong presence in the area to forestall further escalation and ensure the restoration of normalcy.

“The troops are dominating the general area to prevent further escalation and maintain security,” the sources added.
