Osun Election: 17 govs, 50 NASS members against one man – Davido on Adeleke’s victory

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Afrobeats superstar, Davido, has said his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, faced 17 All Progressives Congress, APC, governors and 50 National Assembly members in the Osun gubernatorial election.

Speaking to newsmen on Tuesday in Osogbo, Davido said that the people of Osun State stood their ground despite the intimidation by the APC.

The singer described the election as ‘a war’.

“Osun State people stood their ground despite all the intimidation. We fought a battle, in fact, it was a war.

“When you have 17 governors and 50 senators and House of Representatives against one man and he still came out victorious, God is good,” he said.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared Governor Ademola Adeleke as winner of the August 15, 2026 election after defeating his closest rival, the All Progressives Congress, APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

Adeleke won 19 local government areas with 511,067 votes to defeat Oyebamiji who won 11 LGAs with 444,815 votes.

DAILY POST reports Adeleke’s is the singer’s uncle, and he had campaigned for him before the election.
