OSOGBO — Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged residents of the state to come out in large numbers to participate in the August 15 governorship election, describing voting as the most effective way to sustain democracy.
The governor made the appeal on Thursday while inaugurating the newly constructed Oke-Fia Flyover in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
Adeleke called on eligible voters to exercise their civic responsibility peacefully and ensure that their votes count.
He also expressed appreciation to the people of the state for their support since he assumed office, assuring them that his administration would deliver more developmental projects and people-oriented programmes if re-elected.
“I thank the good people of Osun State for standing by this administration. Your support has encouraged us to deliver projects that are transforming our state. I urge you to come out in large numbers on election day and vote peacefully. If given another opportunity, we will do even more for our people,” he said.
Speaking at the event, the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun, represented by the Asiwaju of Osogboland, Justice Moshood Adeigbe (retd.), commended the governor for what he described as the transformation of Osogbo through infrastructure development.
The monarch’s representative said the Oke-Fia Flyover would improve traffic flow and enhance the city’s aesthetics, describing it as another landmark project of the Adeleke administration.
“We appreciate Governor Adeleke for this magnificent edifice. Osogbo has witnessed significant infrastructural development under this administration, and this project is a testament to the government’s commitment to improving the lives of the people,” he said.
The inauguration attracted political leaders, traditional rulers, government officials, party supporters and residents, many of whom described the flyover as one of the landmark projects executed by the Adeleke administration ahead of the governorship election.
