Former Osun State Governor and founding interim national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bisi Akande, has won his polling unit for the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in Saturday’s governorship election.
Akande cast his ballot earlier in the day at Polling Unit 12, Ward 4, Atogbade area of Ila-Orangun, Ila Local Government Area.
Oyebamiji secured 181 votes at the polling unit, defeating Accord Party candidate and incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, who polled 121 votes.
Akande governed Osun State from 1999 to 2003 under the Alliance for Democracy (AD).
After leaving office, he served as national chairman of the AD, Action Congress (AC) and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) for 11 years between 2003 and 2014.
He later became the founding interim national chairman of the APC following the formation of the party.
