The Reset Nigeria Movement (RNM) has commended the people of Osun State for their resilience, courage and steadfastness in the face of the challenges that characterised the recent political struggle in the state.
In a statement on Sunday signed by the National Coordinator of RNM, Osi Iwenekhai, the group congratulated the people of Osun State for challenging the political establishment and insisting on their choice of governor.
The group said the outcome of the election was a powerful reminder that democracy ultimately belongs to the people.
It said, “It reminds us that Nigerians must never lose faith in their ability to determine the direction of their country through their votes and convictions. Above all, it is a reminder that the most powerful tool in the hands of Nigerians is their vote.
“As Nigeria looks towards 2027, we urge citizens across the country to remain firm in their convictions and exercise their democratic rights without fear, intimidation or manipulation. Nigerians must be free to choose the leaders they believe can best serve their interests.
“Leadership must be earned through the trust of the people and sustained through accountability, competence and a genuine commitment to public service. Nigerians must therefore remain vigilant against every attempt to undermine their political choices and remain courageous in standing for the Nigeria they believe is possible.”
The group also commended Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for standing firmly with Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, throughout what it described as a difficult political journey.
According to the RNM, Makinde’s solidarity demonstrated that political courage is not merely about winning elections but also about standing for democratic principles when doing so is difficult.
It added that Makinde’s steadfast support reflected the importance of loyalty, courage and solidarity in democratic politics, as well as his belief in the people’s mandate and their right to freely determine who governs them.
