The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has warned President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, APC, after Governor Ademola Adeleke won the Osun governorship election.
The party said Adeleke’s victory was a message ahead of the 2027 general election, accusing the APC of deploying what it described as its “rigging machinery” in an attempt to win the state.
The PDP stated its position in a statement issued on Sunday, August 16, 2026, and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong.
“The result of the Osun Governorship elections, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, showing a convincing win by Governor Ademola Adeleke, is a clear message from Nigerians in Osun State about what the 2027 elections will be,” the statement said.
The party alleged that opposition politicians were subjected to intimidation, assault and arrests during the election period.
It also accused security agencies of failing to maintain neutrality and alleged that the Economic and Financial Crimes, EFCC, freezing of the state government’s accounts and delays in the uploading of results by INEC raised concerns about the election.
The PDP urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and protect their votes ahead of the 2027 election.
“Election results must be reflective of the wishes of the people freely expressed through the ballot and not the enforcement of the whims and caprices of a privileged minority of oppressors,” the party said.
