Osun Election: Ruling party bigwigs rally against Adeleke — Shehu Sani

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has described the political situation surrounding Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, in the ongoing governorship election as one in which the incumbent is facing a formidable opposition.

Sani made the observation in a post on his X handle on Saturday as voters across the state cast their ballots to elect the next governor.

According to him, prominent figures of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) had converged on Osun to support the party’s candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, while senior opposition politicians were absent from the state.

“All the Big shots of the ruling party are in the state the Governorship election is taking place. The big shots of the opposition are somewhere else; leaving the incumbent Governor to battle for his life,” he wrote.

Sani likened the situation to a scene from the National Geographic Channel, where a zebra is surrounded by a pride of lions.

“That’s how a Zebra is surrounded by a pride of lions in the National Geographic Channel,” he added.

His comment came as Adeleke, who is seeking re-election, faced a strong challenge from Oyebamiji and other candidates in the keenly contested poll.

Voting is ongoing across the state amid heightened political interest in the outcome of the election.
