Former South-East Spokesman to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Chairman of the Forum of Former Members of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Denge Josef Onoh, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in the just-concluded 2026 governorship election.
Onoh also congratulated global music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, praising his support for his uncle, the governor, during the election campaign.
In a statement, Onoh described Davido’s involvement in the election as significant beyond entertainment, saying the musician had helped draw attention to youth participation and democratic engagement.
He commended Davido for what he described as his dedication, commitment and loyalty to his family throughout the political contest.
According to Onoh, Davido’s involvement demonstrated that public figures could use their influence to encourage political participation and civic consciousness among young Nigerians.
He said the singer’s campaign activities helped mobilise young voters across the state and contributed to renewed interest in the electoral process.
“Davido has shown the world that true greatness is not just in global hits or sold-out arenas, but in an incorruptible commitment to blood ties and justice,” Onoh said.
He added that the musician’s support for Adeleke demonstrated the importance of family solidarity in Nigeria’s political space.
Onoh to Davido: Apologise to Faleke
Onoh, however, called on Davido to apologise to the lawmaker representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, Hon. James Faleke, over allegations made against him during the election.
He said Davido was wrong to accuse Faleke of pressuring the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to manipulate the election in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate.
According to Onoh, Faleke had built a reputation for democratic participation and representation and should not be subjected to unsubstantiated allegations.
“The Faleke I know has never rigged an election in his political life. He is a man of pristine democratic credentials who has been repeatedly re-elected by his constituents in Lagos based entirely on his unwavering dedication, fierce commitment to internal party democracy and unrivalled representation at the National Assembly,” he said.
Onoh urged Davido to retract the allegation and apologise to the lawmaker, saying political disagreements should not degenerate into personal attacks or unsubstantiated accusations.
He also commended President Tinubu for what he described as his commitment to preserving democratic processes during the Osun election.
Onoh said the President’s approach had helped create an environment in which the electorate could exercise its franchise, despite political tensions and competing interests.
“By ensuring a level playing field and resisting the urge to weaponise federal might against the wishes of the people, the President proved that democracy must be allowed to breathe. Osun State stands today as a testament to that democratic preservation,” he said.
Onoh urged Adeleke to use his second term to focus on development and the welfare of the people of Osun State.
He said the governor’s victory should mark the beginning of renewed efforts to improve the lives of residents and advance the development of the state.
Concluding, Onoh said: “Osun will dance again — but with better, hotter dance steps to the rhythm.”
