KANO — WHC Solar has said it is committed to expanding access to electricity in Nigeria through solar energy solutions for households, businesses and industries.
The Chief Executive Officer of WHC Solar, Clint Chan, stated this on Saturday in Kano during a technical installation training organised by the company for solar installers.
Chan said the training was part of efforts to address technical gaps among installers and improve the quality of solar installation services in the country.
“Nigeria is still facing electricity challenges, which is why our mission is to ensure that everyone has access to electricity, starting with Nigeria,” he said.
According to him, the programme was designed to equip participants with the technical knowledge and practical experience required to install solar power systems correctly and deliver better services to customers.
He said the company organised the training after identifying gaps in the technical knowledge of some solar installers, noting that inadequate expertise could result in installation errors.
“We noticed that some installers may not fully understand the technology, which can lead to mistakes. We organised this training to help them improve their skills and become more experienced technicians who can contribute positively to society,” Chan said.
He disclosed that nearly 300 participants attended the training, exceeding the company’s initial projection of about 250.
Chan said participants received practical instruction on installing and configuring inverters and lithium batteries, including understanding how the components communicate and work together.
He added that WHC Solar had operated in Nigeria for more than 10 years and remained committed to supporting the development of the country’s solar energy sector.
“We are committed to staying in Nigeria and contributing to the growth of the solar energy sector,” he said.
The chief executive said the company maintained a service centre in Kano and supplied solar power systems for residential, commercial and industrial applications.
He added that participants would receive certificates at the end of the programme in recognition of their training.
