A Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, House of Representatives candidate in Oyo State, Comrade Akinloye Olusegun, has requested details of federal allocations to the state's 33 local government areas from 2019 to 2026, ahead of planned petitions to anti-corruption agencies.
Olusegun, who contested for the Surulere/Ogo-Oluwa Federal Constituency, made the request through his solicitors, Umar and Alofe Chambers, in a letter addressed to the Minister of Finance and the Accountant-General of the Federation.
The lawyer, Ayo Omoleaupen, said the request was made under the Freedom of Information Act, 2011, to obtain details of funds allocated to the local governments over the seven-year period.
The move is expected to precede the filing of petitions with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC.
In the letter dated October 27, 2026, the solicitors said the request was aimed at promoting transparency and accountability in the management of public funds.
“The request is aimed at promoting public accountability and transparency in the management of public funds, and seeks a monthly breakdown of all federal allocations disbursed to the 33 local government areas in Oyo State from May 2019 to October 2026,” the letter read
They also requested a breakdown of the funds under different categories, including statutory allocation, Value Added Tax, VAT, exchange rate gains, Electronic Money Transfer Levy, EMTL, and other approved payments or augmentations.
The letter further sought the total amount received collectively by the 33 local government areas for each month within the period.
Giving the authorities seven days to respond, the solicitors said, "in line with Section 4 of the FOI Act, we kindly request that the information be made available within seven days of receipt of this application."
They also indicated their readiness to pay the required fees for searching, photocopying, transcription and certified true copies of the requested documents, where applicable.
The solicitors explained that their client was an indigene of Oyo State with an interest in accountable governance and public finance management.
