NPP supporter and socio-political commentator, Pa Njie ‘Girigara’ has declared that Unite party leader Talib Bensouda’s name will not be on the ballot for the December presidential election and that he risks going to jail if he continues to “fight” the president and the government.
In an audio that has gone viral and generated spirited debate, Njie said he was alarmed by the bellicose nature of Bensouda’s statements at a recent rally in Salikenni and that he feared he could end up in jail if he does not change his political trajectory.
He said politics is about brains and not brawns and accused Bensouda of daring to take on the president frontally.
Njie said the advisers spurring on Talib on this path are putting him in dangerous crosshairs. “They have pumped you until now you are blind,” he cautioned. He said no one comes out of a fight with a president and a government unscathed. He advised him to learn from the lesson of Ousmane Sonko in Senegal.

Njie questioned why Bensouda is the only one among mayors and chairpersons of both ruling and opposition parties adversely mentioned in the local government commission report who have gone to court to challenge the findings.
He stated: “We all know the reason is because the findings is [sic] not good for you. Talib, you will not be a candidate. I am privy to everything that is transpiring within government. I am aligned with the government; I am aligned with President Barrow. I know all what’s going on. Forget about your candidacy. You will not be part of those contesting. I have appealed to the government to allow you to contest but when they showed me what was in the report, I said I could not subvert the Constitution. What the Constitution dictates is what President Barrow and his government are going to do. This might be difficult for you to hear today but it is good for your future.”
Njie said Bensouda is making political faux pas because of an unbridled ambition to become president “Haste makes waste. Your time is not now. You are even scurrying your future,” he warned.
