Panic has gripped residents, motorists and passengers following an attack on vehicles along the Onitsha-Owerri Road in Imo State.

According to eyewitness accounts and videos circulating online, gunmen reportedly blocked the road and stopped several vehicles, including two buses, before abducting passengers and taking them into nearby areas.

The videos showed some vehicles stranded on the road, with debris reportedly used to block the route as crowds gathered around the scene.

An eyewitness who shared a post about the incident claimed that the attackers were armed Fulani gunmen.

He said, “Today, 1st of October, armed Fulani gunmen attacked, robbed and kidnapped passengers travelling from Lagos at the Owerri Road to Anambra Expressway. They also abducted several passengers inside two full buses.”
