The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has called for a thorough, transparent and independent investigation into the Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash in Ondo State, which claimed lives, with the findings made public.

The party said the circumstances surrounding the crash must be fully established, including any systemic, technical or operational issues that may have contributed to the tragedy, while measures should be taken to prevent a recurrence.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, the PDP also commiserated with the bereaved families, the Nigerian Air Force and the entire Armed Forces of Nigeria.

“This is a painful moment for the nation, particularly for the families who have been confronted with the sudden and devastating loss of their loved ones,” the party said.

The PDP said the safety and welfare of military personnel must remain a matter of the highest national priority, given the sacrifices they make in service to the country.

“Our men and women in uniform make enormous sacrifices in the service of our nation. Their safety and welfare must therefore remain a matter of the highest national priority,” it said.

The party expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and prayed that God would grant them the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
