A presidential aspirant of the Action Alliance, AA, Joseph Faduri, on Thursday insisted that the Labour Party (LP) won the 2023 presidential election.
Faduri disclosed this while recalling how he informed the then LP presidential candidate, Peter Obi, that he would win after handing over the party’s flag to him.
Recall that Obi came third behind former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and eventual winner President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had announced Tinubu of the APC as the winner of the election after he polled 37 percent of the votes, while Atiku got 29 percent and Obi got 25 percent.
However, Faduri, while featuring on Arise Television’s Morning Show, said: “My name is Joseph Faduri, for those who are seeing me for the first time.
“In 2022, I was the one who handed over the ticket to run for the election under the Labour Party, and I was here also to inform Nigerians that LP would win that election.
“And, like a joke, at the end of the day, we had Labour Party win that election.”
Faduri also spoke about INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan not recognising a court order acknowledging Kenneth Udeze as the authentic leader of the AA.
He added: “Now, the court order that Amupitan was referring to was the court order of a High Court in Osogbo. Under our constitution, a Court of Appeal is higher than a High Court.
“So, if a kangaroo judgment was obtained from the High Court and the authentic leader of the party, Kenneth Udeze, went to a Court of Appeal in Abuja to say, ‘No, that man is not the authentic leader of the party,’ and the court upheld that, then you will imagine that an INEC Chairman, who is supposed to be a referee, should obey a court order.
“But instead of obeying the order of the Court of Appeal, the INEC Chairman is sticking with the old order of the High Court and refusing to obey the Court of Appeal, and the reason is best known to him.”
