Petrol price discount: Apologise to Nigerians – Timi Frank tells Tinubu

Daily Post about 1 hour 1 mins read

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Timi Frank, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to apologise to Nigerians following the proposal to introduce a 30-day discounted petrol price at Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, filling stations.

Frank made the demand in a statement on Friday.

DAILY POST recalls that the Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, proposed fixing the petrol price at N1,350 per litre at NNPCL filling stations for 30 days.

Reacting, Frank argued that the temporary measure had exposed what he described as inconsistencies in the administration’s position on petrol subsidy.

“We expect Tinubu and his government to first apologise to Atiku Abubakar for their previous attacks on his position on returning fuel subsidy if voted into office as President.

“Also Tinubu should apologise to Nigerians. For millions of Nigerians, the consequences of higher fuel prices have extended beyond the cost of filling a vehicle’s tank”, he stated.

DAILY POST reports that Nigerians currently buy petrol at prices ranging from N1,370 to N1,400 per litre in Abuja and its environs.
