Adeniyi Adeyemi, controversial Director-General of the Presidential Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), an organisation authorities have described as a fake Federal Government agency, was spotted boarding a private jet to Abuja.
In a video seen by Daily Trust, on Thursday, Adeyemi was seen surrounded by plain-cloth security operatives.
Dressed in a blue native attire, Adeyemi walked freely among the officers who traded banters.
One of them wore a black fez cap with inscription IRT, which is the Intelligence Response Team of the Inspector-General of Police.
Adeyemi was picked up in Ibadan, Oyo State capital following a warrant issued by Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Shortly after his arrest, a video in which he was seen in handcuff went viral.
In the clip, a voice asked, “What’s your name?”, a question he refused to answer.
Pressed further, he had said, “I have said it several times.”
Adeyemi is reportedly being questioned over allegations relating to the unlawful operation of an organisation allegedly presented as a Federal Government agency, alongside other activities currently under scrutiny.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities have yet to issue official statement explaining the circumstances surrounding the use of the private jet.
President Bola Tinubu has given the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) 30 days to probe the controversy.
