The first group of Nigerians repatriated from South Africa following recent xenophobic violence has arrived in Lagos.

A total of 268 returnees landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at about 10:30 a.m. on Thursday aboard an Air Peace flight.

The evacuation forms part of efforts to bring back Nigerians affected by renewed attacks targeting foreign nationals in parts of South Africa.
