Pistis Foundation Concludes Five-day Medical, Surgical Outreach

This Day about 2 hours 4 mins read

For thousands of people, access to quality healthcare remains beyond reach—not because treatment does not exist, but because the cost of receiving it is too high. It is against this reality that Pistis Foundation successfully concluded its flagship UBOMI Medical and Surgical Outreach, held from October 19 to 23, 2026, at Lifepointe Church, Lekki, Lagos.

Over five days, the fully funded, completely free outreach brought comprehensive healthcare services closer to underserved individuals and families, demonstrating what becomes possible when compassion meets clinical excellence.

The Lagos outreach reached 4,135 beneficiaries and delivered 11,297 clinical and support interventions. Behind these numbers are individuals who received medical attention, families offered renewed hope, and people given an opportunity to address health concerns that might otherwise have remained untreated.

Beyond the numbers, UBOMI represents a deliberate commitment to closing the healthcare access gap. Through consultations, specialist care, surgical services, eye and dental care, laboratory investigations, diagnostic services, medications and other essential interventions, the outreach addressed a broad spectrum of healthcare needs under one coordinated initiative.

For beneficiaries, the impact went beyond receiving treatment. It meant being seen, being cared for and being given access to services that financial circumstances might otherwise have placed out of reach. It was a reminder that dignity should never be determined by one’s ability to pay for healthcare.

Underscoring the long-term vision behind these efforts during the press parley, Pastor Godman Akinlabi—Global Lead Pastor of The Elevation Church and Founder and Board Chair of Pistis Foundation—emphasised the collective responsibility of nation-building and announced a new strategic initiative:

Akinlabi said, “The Elevation Church is positioned to set up a dedicated legacy organization and fund tasked with pooling resources from within and outside the church toward high-impact legacy projects—with the UBOMI outreach serving as a prime example.

“With the help of God and partners, we are playing our part in supplementing the huge gap in the health sector. We believe that government alone cannot resolve this—we need all hands on deck, with many more well-meaning organisations, churches, mosques, enterprises, and NGOs to be a part. The work of nation-building is a collective effort

“This feat was made possible through dedicated technical partnerships with Prohealth International led by Dr. Iko Ibanga and the Hospital for Trauma and Surgery led by Medical Director Dr. Hakeem Badmus.”

Reflecting on the overarching impact of the outreach, Leonard F. Thomas Executive Director of Pistis Foundation noted that “The breadth and depth of impact witnessed during the UBOMI Medical and Surgical Outreach demonstrate what is possible when compassion meets clinical excellence. We are not just treating symptoms; we are restoring dignity, alleviating profound suffering, and transforming entire communities from the inside out.

“Every beneficiary represents a life that matters. No one should be left to endure pain, live with an untreated condition or forgo essential healthcare simply because they cannot afford it. UBOMI is our commitment to helping bridge that gap and to building a future where access to quality healthcare is not a privilege reserved for a few, but a reality for all.”

The Foundation also acknowledged the organisations, corporate partners, donors and individuals who supported the initiative through financial contributions, medical equipment, supplies, meals, medications, diagnostic resources and other essential provisions. Every contribution—financial or in kind—played a role in extending the reach of the initiative. UBOMI stands as a powerful reminder that meaningful healthcare impact is a collective responsibility, strengthened when organisations and individuals unite around a shared purpose.

For the Pistis Foundation, UBOMI is more than a medical intervention. It is an expression of its commitment to restoring dignity, alleviating suffering and creating opportunities for people to live healthier, more hopeful lives.

With more than 60,000 interventions delivered through UBOMI over the years, the initiative continues to demonstrate the value of bringing healthcare directly to communities where it is needed most.
