The Plateau State Government has warned residents against blocking the Jos-Barkin Ladi highway following an attack in Kassa, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, that reportedly left several people dead.
The government also condemned the September 24 attack and urged residents of the affected community to maintain peace.
Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Lohya Ramnap, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, September 25.
The government said security agencies were taking steps to identify those responsible for the attack and prevent further incidents.
It also appealed to families and communities affected by the attack to avoid blocking the highway, warning that such action could put travellers at risk.
“The road is clear and open to motorists and other road users,” the government said.
Residents were urged to continue their lawful activities while remaining vigilant and cooperating with security agencies.
The government also called on traditional, religious and community leaders to support efforts to maintain calm in Kassa, Barkin Ladi and other vulnerable communities.
