The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, POCACOV, has taken its nationwide youth sensitisation drive to Ogun State, engaging hundreds of teenagers and young adults at the Royal Ambassador Ogun Baptist Conference, Ephphatha 2026.
The engagement was led by the State POCACOV Coordinator, ASP Oluborode Opeyemi, in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, to strengthen preventive policing through youth-focused outreach.
The command, in a statement on Monday, said the programme was designed to equip young Nigerians with the knowledge to resist cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime and gang violence, which continue to threaten safety in schools and communities across the country.
During the interactive session, the POCACOV team exposed participants to the dangers of cultism and other vices, explaining how involvement in such activities destroys promising futures and undermines peace in academic institutions.
The officers shared real-life cases of how cultism, substance abuse and internet fraud have cut short the ambitions of young people and urged the teenagers to embrace self-discipline, positive peer influence and personal accountability.
According to the statement, the team also charged the youths to see themselves as stakeholders in nation-building and as anti-vice ambassadors in their schools and neighbourhoods.
At the end of the session, all the youths in attendance took a collective pledge to reject cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime and other social vices and to promote moral leadership in their communities.
The command said the programme is part of POCACOV’s national mandate to promote community policing and preventive education for young Nigerians, reaffirming its commitment to sustaining youth engagement, reducing crime and building safer communities nationwide.
