Police allegedly arrest OK Movement coordinator, teargas Peter Obi supporters in Uyo [VIDEO]

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested the state coordinator of the OK Movement, Elijah Noah, in Uyo, amid reports that tear gas was fired at supporters of Peter Obi during a planned march.

The incident was brought to public attention by Esther Umoh, a media aide to Peter Obi, on Thursday.

The march, tagged the “Two Million Man March,” was organised in support of Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The event was scheduled to begin at 9 am at the Water Fountain in Uyo, despite a police warning against proceeding with the march over security concerns and reports of possible disturbances.

In a statement, Umoh alleged that Noah was arrested while participating in a peaceful march.

“The OK Movement Coordinator for Akwa Ibom State has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police while marching peacefully on the streets of Uyo,” she said.

“Tear gas is being fired at Peter Obi supporters in Akwa Ibom as we speak,” she added.
