Five suspects are in police custody in Bauchi after operatives of the Nigeria Police Force reportedly found two suspected human eyes and other items believed to be connected to money rituals in their possession.
The Zone 12 Police Public Relations Officer, SP Jalige Mohammed, made this known in a statement.
Mohammed said the suspects were apprehended on August 26 by personnel attached to the Intelligence Unit of the Zone 12 Headquarters in Bauchi.
He disclosed that the operation led to the recovery of two suspected human eyes, pieces of red and white cloth and other materials which the police believe may be linked to ritual activities.
The police spokesperson said the five suspects, including Abdullahi Idris, Sani Haruna, Auwal Umar, Abubakar Yusuf and Sharu Sale, were being interrogated as detectives continued investigation into the case.
He explained that the investigation was aimed at uncovering the circumstances surrounding the recovered items, including their source, while efforts were also being made to establish whether other people were involved.
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 12, Vungmoh S. M. Kwaimo, expressed concern over the incident and urged members of the public to remain vigilant.
He assured the public that the police would continue operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks across the zone and safeguarding lives and property.
