The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly killing his 80-year-old father in Mundadu Village, Bindawa Local Government Area of the state.
According to the Police, the tragic incident occurred on September 21, 2026, after a distress call was received from the District Head of Bindawa (Dan Yusufan Katsina), reporting that the elderly man, a former Ward Head of Mundadu Village, was found lying unconscious in front of his residence.
Detectives were immediately deployed to the scene and evacuated the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
The Command’s preliminary investigation led to the arrest of the deceased’s son.
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to striking his father on the head with a stick, inflicting the injuries that resulted in his death.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Fage, had directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a comprehensive investigation.
The police spokesman said the suspect will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Command expressed its condolences to the bereaved family and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that justice is served in the case.
