Police arrest three suspects over alleged murder, armed robbery in Ibadan

Oyo State Police command has announced the arrest of three suspected murders and armed robbers.

The command noted that the suspects were arrested in connection with the killing of a woman in Ibadan and armed robbery.

Public Relations Officer of the command, Olayinka Ayanlade made the revelations in a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday in Ibadan, the State capital.

Ayanlade explained that the suspects belong to an armed robbery gang and were responsible for a deadly robbery attack at Wofun Olodo Area of Ibadan, during which a 44-year-old woman, Wahab Rukayat, was killed and other victims sustained serious injuries.

He explained that the incident occurred on the 4th of August 2026 at about 0230hrs, noting that the suspects attacked the residence of one Alhaji Olatokunbo, at Wofun Olodo Area of Ibadan.

Ayanlade said the suspect, as identified as Akinrinola Oluwatobi, Okunola Mathew and Ibrahim Rabiu have been arrested.

He maintained that some items were recovered from the suspects as exhibits while they are currently in police custody.

“The incident occurred on 4 August 2026 at about 0230hrs, when armed robbers attacked the residence of one Alhaji Olatokunbo, at Wofun Olodo Area of Ibadan. In the course of the attack, the suspected armed robbers killed his wife, Mrs. Wahab Rukayat, 44 years, while other occupants of the residence sustained serious injuries.

“The robbers also carted away several mobile phones, wristwatches, $400 US dollars, and other valuables estimated at approximately ₦3.493 million, all at gunpoint. The suspects are; Akinrinola Oluwatobi, Okunola Mathew and Ibrahim Rabiu.

“One iPhone 7 Plus, belonging to one of the victims of the Wofun Olodo robbery attack, was recovered from the suspects.”
