The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspects over an alleged threat to kidnap the Village Head of Bangare, Gezawa Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects, identified as Aliyu Naziru Garba and Bashir Alhasan, both 20, were arrested following a police investigation into the threat.

The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the village head, Mallam Idris, reported the incident at the Gezawa Divisional Police Headquarters at about 1:30 a.m. on October 26.

He told the police that he received a threatening phone call from an unknown person at about 9:33 p.m. on October 24, during which the caller threatened to kidnap him.

Following the report, police operatives attached to the Gezawa Division launched an investigation that led to the arrest of the two suspects.

“The suspects have confessed to the crime, and investigations are ongoing. They will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation,” the statement said.

The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the officers for their swift response and reaffirmed the command's commitment to tackling criminal activities.

The commissioner said the operation aligned with the Inspector-General of Police's focus on intelligence-led and technology-driven policing, professionalism and proactive crime prevention.
