Daily Post about 1 hour 2 mins read

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspects over alleged criminal conspiracy, cheating and forgery linked to fake recruitment activities within the state civil service commission.

The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday by the Spokesman of the Command, SP Nafiu Habib.

According to the statement, the case was reported to the police on April 28, 2026, following a formal complaint from the Office of the Head of Civil Service through the Director of Recruitment and Training of the Civil Service Commission.

The complaint alleged fraudulent activities involving the circulation and possession of fake Civil Service recruitment documents.

Following the report, detectives were deployed to investigate the matter, leading to the arrest of two suspects identified as Mohammed Bappa, 30, a civil servant attached to the Shira Local Government Secretariat, and Aminu Nuru, 28, a café operator based in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Police said preliminary investigations uncovered credible intelligence, which led operatives to conduct a search at the residence of Mohammed Bappa in the Kakudi area of Azare town.

During the search, detectives reportedly recovered 20 Civil Service Commission bio-data forms and five printed copies of suspected forged offer of temporary appointment letters.

The police said the recovered documents were believed to have been prepared for fraudulent recruitment activities aimed at deceiving unsuspecting job seekers.

According to the Command, the suspects are currently in custody while investigations continue to identify other possible accomplices and determine the extent of the alleged criminal operation.

The statement added that the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu reiterated the Command’s commitment to tackling fraud, forgery and other criminal activities in the state.

He also advised residents to remain vigilant and Verify all recruitment-related information through official government channels to avoid falling victim to fraudsters.
