The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed a helicopter crash in the Igbokoda axis of Ilaje Local Government Area of the state.

The incident occurred on Monday, October 5, 2026, and reportedly sparked panic among residents of the coastal community.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, confirmed the reported aircraft crash, saying details surrounding the incident were still emerging.

Abayomi said efforts were ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

He urged residents of Igbokoda and adjoining communities to remain calm and avoid circulating unverified information.

“The details surrounding the incident are still emerging, as efforts to establish the full circumstances continue,” Abayomi said.

“The Command urges members of the public, particularly residents of Igbokoda and adjoining communities, to remain calm and refrain from circulating unverified information.

“The public will be duly informed as soon as further credible information becomes available.”

Earlier, a community leader, who spoke in confidence, had confirmed the incident but said the exact location of the crash and other details were not immediately known.
